The 401 Corridor Every Week, On a Dedicated Truck, Delivered the Next Morning

Toronto is 540 kilometres from Montreal, about five and a half hours on the 401. We run this corridor every week, in both directions, with our own trucks and our own crews. If you are looking for Montreal to Toronto movers for a small to mid sized home, expect $2,800 to $4,000 before taxes, depending on volume, services and context; bigger moves go above that range.

How does a Montreal to Toronto move actually go?
Most of the time we load at your place the day before, the truck spends the night loaded and sealed in our yard under surveillance, and it takes the 401 early the next morning to deliver in Toronto before noon. Your furniture stays in the same truck from start to finish and is never combined with another client’s.
That is not a preference, it is arithmetic. Five and a half hours of driving plus loading and unloading does not fit in one day for a crew that has to respect driving and rest hour rules. Loading the day before is what lets you receive your belongings in the morning, with the whole day to settle in, instead of a truck pulling up at 7 pm after a full day on the road. For a small load, a studio or a few pieces, same day is still possible; we tell you at the quote.
| Your move | What we propose | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Apartment, house, condo | Load the day before, leave at dawn, deliver before noon | Settled in on delivery day |
| Studio or a few pieces | Load early, deliver late afternoon | One day |
| Office or store | A sequence planned with you, often on a weekend | You reopen on time |
How much does it cost to move from Montreal to Toronto?
Between $2,800 and $4,000 before taxes for a small to mid sized home, and more for a large house or full packing. Real volume, access at both addresses, how much packing you hand to us, and the date are what move the number.
We price it one of two ways and tell you which applies: a fixed price with a set budget of labour hours for loading and unloading, or an hourly rate plus travel time and a fuel surcharge shown as their own lines. Our hourly rates run from $85 to $195 depending on crew size and are higher from May 20 to July 10. What is included is written on the quote, with no hidden fees.
What do you need to arrange for a Toronto condo tower?
Most Toronto condo buildings require an elevator booking and often a loading dock time slot. Without that booking a crew can wait for hours or be turned away, which costs more than any other surprise on this route.
We tell you what to ask your property manager when we quote: the elevator window, which entrance to use, dock height, permitted hours. On the Montreal side, a walk-up or a narrow Plateau street needs the same preparation. The route is planned too: the 401 to Mississauga, Brampton, Markham and Vaughan, the 407 toll road or the 416 through Ottawa when the east end is congested, the 403 and the QEW for Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton. We serve the whole Greater Toronto Area, and Laval and Longueuil on the departure side.
What should you know about moving from Quebec to Ontario?
For transporting your belongings, nothing: no customs, no documents, and our insurance covers you on the Ontario side exactly as it does in Montreal. What changes concerns you before and after the move, and we remind you because it is what people forget most often.
Before the date, call your home insurer: your policy often covers your belongings during a move, but changing provinces can change that coverage. After the move, your driver’s licence, registration and car insurance move to Ontario in the weeks that follow, and the address changes go to both governments.
The day the 401 closed: a real one
We were moving an employee of a large shipping company as part of a corporate relocation to Toronto. On the way, a serious accident closed the 401, and our truck sat on the highway for six hours.
The client saw it on the news before we called, but we stayed in touch with him all afternoon. Seeing the delay coming, we agreed together on a delivery the next morning rather than in the middle of the night. Nobody controls a highway closure, but we have worked the road long enough to know that things happen: a tire blows, an engine overheats, an exit is closed. A well planned move starts with a maintained fleet, trained movers, experienced planners and a reasonable client. If that sounds like the right recipe to you, we would be glad to do your move.
If you already know your packing may not be ready, say so when we quote and we adjust the hour budget ahead of time. Our packing services cover all or part of the home, and storage is available when the two dates do not line up.
When should you ask for a quote?
Three to four weeks before your date for a Toronto move, and earlier around July 1 or the end of a month. For a large house or an office we offer a free in-home estimate; on this corridor it is often the right way to set the price.
Describe your move and a moving consultant answers in writing within 60 minutes during office hours, with a clear quote and no hidden fees. We are a CAA-Quebec approved mover and a member of the Canadian Association of Movers.
We also run the Quebec City and Ottawa corridors, and the full picture of our long distance and interprovincial moving is on those pages.

Questions about moving from Montreal to Toronto
How long does a Montreal to Toronto move take?
Two days in most cases: load the day before, overnight in our yard, delivery the next morning. A small load can be done in a single day.
Do my belongings stay in the same truck?
Yes. Your move travels alone on a dedicated truck, never combined with another client's. Overnight, the truck stays loaded and sealed in our yard under surveillance.
Do you serve the Toronto suburbs?
Yes: Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton, the same way, and Laval and Longueuil on the Montreal side.
Do you also move from Toronto to Montreal?
Yes, both directions, every week. Same price and the same plan.
Do I need documents to move to Ontario?
None for your belongings. Before the date, check with your home insurer that your belongings stay covered during a move to another province. After, you transfer your driver's licence, registration and car insurance to Ontario and update your address with both governments.
